קָלִיט
קָלִיטm. h. a. ch. (קָלַט) suction, (with יַם or יַמָּא) gorge. Y.B. Mets.V, 10c bot. קָלִיטוֹ של ים (not שלים) the gorge (resorbing the rivers flowing into the sea); trnsf. a certain form of usury (τόκος ναυτικός, fenus nauticum, v. Sm. Ant. 3rd> ed. London 1890, s. v. Fenus, a. Lübker Reallex. s. v. Ἔμπορος, a. Zinsen), the creditor advancing money on a ship load at his own risk in case of shipwreck, expl. ib. בר נש דיהיב לחבריה מהו דינרין כגון אילין דיהביןוכ׳ if one advances a certain number of Denars to his neighbor in the same manner as those who give goods , v. קסוסטבן.Pl. (ch.) קְלִיטִין. Gen. R. s. 5 (expl. עד נבכי ים, Job 38:16) עד ק׳ דימא (some ed. קְלוּטִין) to the gorges of the sea; Yalk. Ps. 848 קטלא (read: קָלִיטָא or קָלְטָא).
